Summer Solstice

We had high hopes for making the most of the longest day of the year and things went mostly to plan. The weather finally improved to a nice Central Oregon mid 70’s. I blew up our paddle boards and we took a cruise up the Little Deschutes River.

There was enough of a current to make it a little bit of a challenge to paddle up river and a fun ride down. We saw deer, plenty of birds, and I think a coyote. We stopped for lunch on the side of the river and then let the current take us back down to the campground.

We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and BBQing. Summertime and the living is easy. When the sun finally started sinking into the woods of the campground, we decided to take Crosby for a walk back out to grassy field where he loves to run around off leash. Unfortunately, this is where things stopped going to plan and I painfully rolled my left ankle. I fractured my right big toe three weeks ago and was just getting back to normal. I’m layed up now waiting for the swelling to go down. This left Jaime to do all the manly outside breaking camp things and the wifely nursing duties inside. Thanks! Good thing our plans are flexible.
